Visual Link Internet is a privately-owned, full service ISP that has been providing ISP services since 1988. Visual Link Internet owns and operates two Industrial data centers, one in Winchester, Virginia, the other in Hampshire County, West Virginia. From these two data centers, Visual Link Internet supports customers in over 20 countries.
Our wireless Internet access started in 1999 with the first city-wide wireless data network, right here in Winchester, Virginia. This early start in providing wireless Internet has given our company the advantage of years of experience in Wireless Internet Services. Backed by our two industrial data centers, this enables Visual Link Internet to provide a higher class of service than most Wireless Internet Service Providers.
Our main data center in Winchester is 9,000 sq ft. It has redundant AC units, a 125 KW backup generator and two fiber optic connections to the building. Our second data center is 28,000 sq ft, and was one of three centers built that handled all of the 1,500 government agencies voice and data communications until the end of the Cold War in 1994. This secure data center is now our backup data center and fallback operations center. This allows us to continue to operate even in the event of evacuation of the Winchester or DC areas, or in the event one center is destroyed. This type of detail is important if you and your company rely on your connection to the Internet.
We have included some photos of our Winchester data center during the big snow storm of 2003 that shut down Winchester City. But Visual Link Internet kept running. We had the back generators and NATO Unimog Trucks that allowed us to bring in the staff needed to keep operating and supporting our customers even in the worst of weather. This equipment also allows us to get to our mountain tower sites to make repairs even when most 4-wheel drive vehicles could not. We thought you might enjoy some of the snow photos.
